Susman's Best Beef Biltong Co Ltd.(THE COMPANY) Contracts are made and orders accepted only upon and subject to these terms and conditions of business. ALL OTHER TERMS ARE HEREBY EXCLUDED UNLESS EXPRESSLY ACCEPTED IN WRITING BY THE COMPANY. For (private) Retail consumers these terms and conditions do not affect you statutory rights in any way. We only collect information about you to firstly to process your order and secondly to provide you with the best possible service and information about our products. 

We will only e-mail you in the future as you have given us your consent and we will always give you the chance to refuse any marketing email from us in the future if you change your mind.

The information we will collect about you includes:

We will never collect sensitive information about you without your explicit consent. 
The information we hold will be accurate and up to date. You can check the information that we hold about you by emailing us or checking your account on our website. If you find any inaccuracies we will delete or correct it promptly.
The personal information which we hold will be held securely in accordance with our internal security policy and the law.

We may use technology to track the patterns of behavior of visitors to our site. This can include using a "cookie" which would be stored on your browser. Security Policy

We have an effective security policy that we review regularly. All credit card details that are given to us by you the customer are done so on a secure serve in addition we use a PGP security script that encodes your detail ensuring that they cannot be decoded until the information arrives with us. Please note that we do not store any of your payment detail on-line. All payment details are encrypted by your credit-card company and we cannot access them at anytime.

Retail Orders

Payment by PayPal, credit card or Debit Card.

Payment by PayPal are subject to the following conditions:

1) We will only dispatch your order to your verified PayPal Shipping address
2) Your order will not be dispatched for at least 48hr from receipt of us receiving your order
3) Please do not select Same Day Dispatch from the delivery options
4) If you are not happy with any of the above please select to pay for your order by Place my Order By Card

Title of goods for (retail customers)

Goods supplied by Susmans best beef biltong co Ltd to customers remain the property of the company until, until paid for in full by the customer.

Prices

Orders are subject to acceptance by the company and to availability of goods and will be invoiced at prices ruling at the time of acceptance. Orders for forward delivery are subject to any changes due to fluctuation in exchange rates and changes of rates of duty, freight charges or insurance premiums.


Deliveries Terms

Christmas Terms and Delivery Dates 

Please note that from the 16th March 2020 we will notify you when your order will be dispatched and you will receive a text from the couriers informing you of your expected  2hr delivery time slot on the morning of your delivery as long as you have given us your mobile telephone number and/or email address.

Please note that we want you to enjoy the experience of shopping with Susmans and for you to receive your goods in perfect condition. So we do everything within our power to try to make this a pleasurable and stress free process, what you need to do is make sure that you are available to receive your goods on the day that we inform you that they will be arriving.

So please read the following information to help us make this happen.

Delivery

  • Orders are not subject to a minimum order value.
  • Delivery will be made to the address specified by the customer on the completed order form. This can be your home address or work address.
  • We do our best to secure delivery within the time specified but shall not be liable for loss occasioned by delay in delivery arising out of any cause beyond our control.
  • Should you wish to track your product please contact us at sales@biltong.co.uk and we will investigate on your behalf and reply by email asap.
  • If for any reason beyond our reasonable control, we are unable to supply a particular product, we will notify you as soon as possible.
  • All goods must be signed for on delivery by an adult aged 18 years or over.
  • If no one of that age is at the address when the delivery is attempted the goods may be retained by the driver, in which case the driver will leave notification of attempted delivery and you will have to telephone to rearrange a delivery day. In these circumstances, if we have to return to deliver the goods, a further delivery charge may become payable.
  • We cannot be held responsible for any spoilage of your goods if you were not in to receive your delivery.

If you are not able to accept your delivery on the day that we inform you it will arrive, you can arrange for the following but only before your goods are dispatched!

ONCE YOUR ORDER HAS BEEN DISPATCHED YOU NEED TO DO THIS DIRECTLY WITH APC, PLEASE SEE BELOW.

When your parcel is out for delivery you will receive an email and text (if you have provided a mobile phone number) from APC with your 2 hour delivery window.  There will also be a link on this message which will take you to APC Choice where the following options are offered:- 

1) Change Delivery Date (IF YOU DO contact the courier company to re- arrange for the delivery to be made to you, we cannot be held responsible for any spoilage of your goods if you were not in to receive your delivery.) 

 2) Collect From Depot at a later date, We cannot be held responsible for any spoilage of your goods.

 3) Collect from Local APC/Parcel Location (next working day). We cannot be held responsible for any spoilage of your goods.

 4) Change leave safe options (choose this option to provide leave safe instructions) We cannot be held responsible for any spoilage of your goods.

 IF YOU DO REQUEST ONE OF THE ABOVE, then in the event that your parcel is damaged or goes missing we cannot be held responsible for this and we will not be in a position to replace your order or refund you for any loss or damage. Please also be advised that in the event of loss or damage it will not be possible to request a charge back of monies to Susmans from your bank or credit card company.

Delivery Time Scale

  • Next day delivery is from date of dispatch. 
  • If you are not going to be in, please do not arrange for a delivery on that day.
  • Please note that we will notify you of your expected day this is only an approximate delivery date, we cannot guarantee that you order will reach you on this day but we hope that it will.
  • Orders received by 5.00pm on Monday will be dispatched on Tuesday to be with you by Wednesday, unless otherwise notified.
  • Orders received by 10.30am on Fridays will be offered the upgrade service for delivery on Saturday at an extra cost of £28.50 on top of stated delivery charge. You must confirm by email that you accept this charge by 11.30am on the same day for this service to be activated.
  • If you order after 12 noon on Thursday and do not wish to upgrade to Saturday delivery, your orders will be dispatched on Monday for delivery on Tuesday.
  • Please note that we cannot be held responsible for delays in you receiving your orders, beyond our control. We will always do our best to get your orders to you at the informed delivery time but in some circumstances delivery can take up to 48hr WORKING HOURS to arrive.
  • All fresh and frozen meats are sent in poly boxes with disposable freezer blocks so it will be 100% OK even after 48hrs in transit.
  • Please note that when frozen goods are sent we cannot guarantee that they will arrive frozen and they therefore should be consumed within 3 days of receipt.
  • Orders placed will be delivered within 14 days maximum, unless we have contacted you and agreed alternative terms. Usually orders are dispatched within 48 hours of receipt of order as long as all goods are in stock, if something is out of stock we will notify you before the goods are dispatched.
  • If you are not going to be in, please do not arrange for a delivery on that day.

Deliveries for Customers

Although every effort will be made to deliver goods as ordered the company cannot accept responsibility for delays due to circumstances beyond its control. Delivery dates & time are given in good faith by the Company to indicate estimated delivery times but shall not amount to any contractual obligation to deliver at the time stated and is subject to payment clearance, locality, human error, courier company error and system failure. The company will accept no liability for direct or consequential loss or damage arising from delay in delivery beyond our control.

We reserve the right to refuse to supply any individual or company.

By agreeing to order products on this site the buyer agrees to buy at the price and in the way described on the site. The seller's acceptance of the order is conditional on receipt of payment, the ability of the seller to provide the product and there being no error or innocent misrepresentation by either party. If for any reason the product/service cannot be provided within 30 days, any payment will be fully refunded. The buyer accepts responsibility for judging the suitability of the product for the buyer's required purpose.


Claims

Claims can only be made through the Susmans Best Beef Biltong Co Ltd customer service department on Telephone: 01273 51616001273 516160 and in writing to either Fax No:01273 516165 or E-mail: sales@biltong.co.uk . Any claims made before prior communication with the Susmans Best Beef Biltong Co Ltd customer service department will not be considered. For orders sent by mail no claim will be considered if you sign for the goods as received in good condition.

  1. All goods must be counted upon receipt. Any shortage must be indicated on the delivery note at the time of delivery.
  2. All goods must also be checked for damages upon receipt. Any damage must be indicated on the delivery note at the time of delivery. If goods are signed for as received in good order (not damaged), no claim can be made against this delivery.
  3. All goods must be checked against the delivery note within 24hr of delivery.
  4. Any claim in respect of the above should be made by telephone, fax or e-mail to the Susmans Best Beef Biltong Co Ltd service department within 48hr of the delivery (01273 51616001273 516160) , fax 01273 516165 e-mail sales@biltong.co.uk
  5. Credit may not be given for goods returned without prior agreement from the Susmans Best Beef Biltong Co Ltd service department. The company reserves the right to recover carriage and handling costs where unauthorised returns are made.
  6. No claims will be entertained unless the above conditions are strictly adhered to.
  7. No credit or refund will be give for any goods ordered in error by the customer.
  8. No credit or refund will be given for any losses due to the incorrect storage or merchandising by the customer, of any goods supplied by Susman`s Best Beef Biltong Co Ltd.
  9. No credit or refund will be give for any orders canceled without the agreement of Susmans Best Beef Biltong Co Ltd in advance and in writing.
  10. No credit or refund will be give for any orders canceled due to late delivery unless it has taken longer than 21 days to arrive from dispatch and it was due to an error on the part of Susmans Best Beef Biltong Co Ltd. We will however sort out any problems due to spoilage of goods etc as long as it is not due to customer negligence.
  11. No credit or refund will be give for any orders canceled due to late delivery due to adverse weather conditions and our delivery companies are unable to make said delivery.
  12. ANY ORDERS THAT ARE REFUSED, NOT COLLECTED OR RETURNED for whatever reason, ON A DELIVERY ATTEMPT, WITHOUT THE WRITTEN PERMISSION OF SUSMANS WILL INCUR A CHARGE OF 20% PLUS THE COST OF THE DELIVERY CHARGE, EVEN IF FREE DELIVERY WAS GIVEN at the time the order was placed. Any order returned for a refund with the permission of Susmans will incur charges as agreed at the time between Susmans and the customer.

Complaints

If you find that you are not satisfied with any product or service please feel free to contact Mr Larry Susman at sales@biltong.co.uk or Fax: 01273 516165 and you will receive a written response within 5 working days. We will endeavour to resolve any complaint with in a further 14 working days.

Faulty Goods

If the goods turn out to be faulty or different from those the consumer ordered, we will offer the consumer a full refund. This will be done within 30 days of agreeing to give the refund at the latest.

Mistakes in bills, receipts or payments

Any mistakes in bills, receipts or payments as soon as possible, and at the latest within 30 days of agreeing to do so. Guarantee All goods offered by the company are guaranteed to meet statutory requirements. However, the company cannot accept responsibility where goods supplied are subject to further processing or re-packaging by the customer.


How to Store your Biltong

We’ve loved making our Biltong for the last 33 years as much as we hope you do eating it? Making it the traditional way so that we maintain the highest level of quality and taste. Each piece of Biltong is handmade, hand cut and prepared by our skilled butchers, ensuring that you enjoy every piece right to the last.

However! Biltong is a natural dry cured product, which needs to be stored in a natural way. The "wetter/softer" you like your biltong the more likely the chance it can go mouldy if not stored correctly. The more moisture there is in the Biltong, the higher the probability that mould can occur, no matter what preservatives some companies use and we use very little to keep it as natural as possible. So please take extra care when storing your biltong, follow the instructions below. Remember you’re not in South Africa now, where it is warm and humidity levels tend to be below 30% the perfect conditions for making and keeping biltong. You’re in the UK/EU where it’s a lot wetter and humidity can get very much higher. This is not great for making or preserving biltong, therefore we have to help the biltong remain dry in an area with as low humidity as possible!

To get the best 'life' out of your biltong, care needs to be taken to store it properly and avoid any spoilage. Even though Biltong is a preserved product it’s still a natural food substance that contains water and is not as indestructible as some people might think. Thoughts of the Voortrekkers our forefathers carrying around biltong under their saddles for months on end, may work in the incredibly dry conditions of the Transvaal plains or the Kalahari Desert but not in London, Brighton, Hampstead or Scotland. The only reason for biltong or any other dried/cured meat to go off, is due to incorrect storage.

Our biltong is made and stored in a strict controlled environment, until we receive your order. Then and only then, we choose what you have asked for and pick it, slice it and pack it for you personally. You will receive your biltong packed in gas-flushed thick plastic bags and packed in a protective atmosphere. So keep the bags sealed and intact until you decide to eat it.

However always be aware that the wetter your biltong is the shorter the shelf life. Once you open the bag, eat it or put the remainder of your biltong in an OPEN bowl and mix it up a bit. Make sure that you turn and mix up the biltong daily, this helps it to air but always eat within 3 days of opening if you can. Most mould only starts to happen when the biltong comes into contact with another surface. The bags we use are food grade, sterile. We pack your biltong in these bags in a protected gas atmosphere but once opened it is then open to the elements. Moisture forms at that surface contact point where the biltong touches. The inevitable and unavoidable process can then start if it has the following conditions: WATER + OXYGEN + HEAT + CONTACT= MOULD

We do not recommend that you keep biltong in the fridge or even in the freezer, keep it in the bags we supply unopened until you want to eat it but always open before the best before date. Suffice to say the choice is yours but we have warned you not to but if you do decide to freeze your biltong, it will naturally release moisture once it starts to defrost. This is when thing can and do go wrong, it’s the danger time! Defrost in the driest atmosphere as you can, otherwise it can and will go mouldy, you have been warned.

Hang whole sticks of biltong on a hook or string, in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place. Never store in a sealed container, it will sweat and this will lead to mould growth. Biltong needs to 'breathe' it likes to be in dry air and make sure that it’s not touching anything else otherwise the following applies. WATER + OXYGEN + HEAT+CONTACT = MOULD

  2. For N.Ireland, Channel Islands and other Isles delivery might be two to three days, we will confirm time by separate email.
  3. In the event that a Special Offer or Discount is not reflected in the cashier produced total a human will intervene to ensure that your bill is reduced accordingly.
  4. Fresh Meat is not sent by Special delivery please take note of warnings on the pages.
  5. Please note that we can now export our biltong to all EU countries, no fresh or frozen meats will be dispatched outside of the UK mainland, due to delivery times.
